Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon

The sequel to the original Rune Factory is set several years after Raguna and friends defeated the evil plans of the Sechs Empire. Things are at peace again in Norad Kingdom. In the village of Alvarna, a boy named Kyle has become old enough to travel on his own. Right before he begins his adventures, a strange premonition of doom begins to appear as a strange lady named Mana makes an appearance. Rune Factory 2 is much like its prequel, Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon, allowing the player to interact with the towns people. The protagonist can also woo women into marriage, while farming, going in caves and fighting monsters the whole way. This game (and it's prequel) have an impressively large assortment of items. Rune Factory 2 however, has more items than the previous game. At 762 items, Rune Factory 2 outdoes its predecessor which only had 672 items.

Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness

Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness is a farm simulation video game published and developed by Marvelous Interactive Inc. in Japan, and released in North America by Natsume exclusively for the Nintendo DS. It is the fourth installment of the Harvest Moon series on the DS. All movement and actions are performed on the touch screen, with the four face buttons (or alternatively the D-pad) being used to select and/or equip tools and items. IGN stated that the control scheme incorporated a good bit more touch control than Harvest Moon's past DS entries, Harvest Moon DS and Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon. This game uses the Nintendo Wi-Fi service for a farm ranking service, and a voice chat session using the DS's built-in microphone.

Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon

The game mechanics-wise stays true to its original roots. In 10 seconds, ten in-game minutes pass, creating a second/minute ratio, like in most Harvest Moon games. The player can still grow crops, and swinging tools for the farm decreases stamina. However, the usual game mechanic of purchasing animals has been replaced by defeating monsters in dungeons. The player can befriend monsters, and in return, they help the player in battle or provide sellable goods.
